Where to go to the beach near Naples: discover the best spots

Here are some great ideas just for you.

Capri, Ischia, and Procida

These are the three islands of the Gulf of Naples. All three are stunning and will offer you dreamy beaches. Getting there is easy: head to the port of Naples and board one of the ferries that will take you to these islands, and you’re all set.

Capri

The “blue island” has always enchanted actors, directors, footballers, and musicians thanks to the beauty of its beaches. Marina Piccola and Marina Grande are the two main ones. Keep in mind that the beaches in Capri are small and rocky, but the island’s sea will take your breath away.

Ischia

When it comes to beaches, Ischia is the opposite of Capri: here, you’ll find large, well-equipped beaches, such as the famous Maronti Beach, which is one of the largest and most popular.

Procida

Procida, the smallest of the three islands, is perfect for a two- to three-day stay. Its beaches are small but no less charming, like the famous Pozzo Vecchio beach, featured in the movie Il Postino. To discover more secluded and hard-to-reach beaches, it’s best to book a boat tour.

Capo Miseno

Capo Miseno is located in Bacoli, a picturesque village just north of Naples, which is about a half-hour drive away. Here, you’ll find a small beach called Miliscola, where both free areas and beach clubs are available. The view from here is spectacular, with a panorama that includes the island of Procida.

Baia Castle Beach

Not far from Capo Miseno and also reachable in about 30 minutes by car from Naples, Baia Castle Beach is a small, fully equipped beach. The only access is from the nearby hotel, and a ferry service will take you down to the beach.

Sorrento and the Sorrento Coast

You don’t need a car (in fact, we don’t recommend it due to the frequent traffic in this area). From Naples Central Station at Piazza Garibaldi, take the Circumvesuviana train toward Sorrento.

From Scrajo onward, every stop is a great place to enjoy the sea: Vico Equense, Seiano, Meta, Piano di Sorrento, and Sant’Agnello. Sorrento itself deserves special mention, with Marina Piccola, Marina Grande, and the famous Baths of Queen Giovanna.

It takes about 1 hour and 15 minutes by train to reach Sorrento, while the other destinations are on earlier stops.

The Amalfi Coast

Although it’s in a different province, it’s well worth the trip because the Amalfi Coast is a true gem. Here, you’ll find famous spots like Maiori, Minori, Amalfi, and Positano, along with hidden gems like Conca dei Marini, Praiano, and Erchie.

To get there from Naples, you have two options:

1. Take the train to Sorrento, then catch a bus that will take you to the Amalfi Coast towns.
2. Take a train from Naples Garibaldi to Salerno, then hop on one of the many buses from Salerno to the Amalfi Coast.
